Garden Of Delight

Recently, I’ve spent a lot of time gardening. That deadly combination of occasional rain and often sun has encouraged the grass to bloom forth and explode. It may not look like much – it certainly looks miniscule when examined from Google Earth, but it is a not inconsiderable amount of turf. Especially when faced with a battered short cut lawnmower and no hedgetrimmers. The jamming mechanism designed to protect my fingers also seems explicitly designed to avoid cutting the long grass. Every six or seven seconds it seems to jam, and I have to stop, stoop, and clear the accumulated grass.

First pass nine days ago saw the initial trimming of several months of overgrowth. Then, at the weekend, a more detailed tidier attack. Yesterday, I sat in the garden the hard drive spilling forth a Moby DJ Set, and E and X helped me. E did most of the work. X stood around, walked from one to the other, watched Mum with the mower and pointed at the roar of the big machine. Mummy! Mummy! Daddy cuddles helped.

Now, for a while, I can rest in the garden

Gardening. Don't even get me started on that torture.
