Parenthood is hard work. Today, for example, I don't think I've actually done anything. I spend most of the day hanging around with a little boy, wrestling him, appeasing him, cleaning him, changing him, being tugged by him, listening to him wail when he wants sweets, telling him NO, putting on socks, taking off socks, putting on sunglasses, taking off sunglasses, shoes, making milk, dinner, playing, sorting clothes, putting him to bed...

And it never stops. Something is pushing them to the side of their lives Larkin wrote, and he was quite right. Sometimes I don't get an evening meal until 10 or 11pm. I'm forgetting who I am.

But I love it. This guy has no choice but to have me as a parent, and I don't want to let him down.

Comments:
parenthood is only hard work if your doing it right. So, congrats :)

You did do something, you were being a good dad. Better than any amount of DIY or whatever.
