Life Could Be Perfect

The Daily Mail Headline Generator is not a work of fiction. Every day it appears to have Diana, Princess of Wales and Madeline on the cover. Madediana must exist, some weird cross between the two. It’s very one dimensional, that paper. Made of scapegoats. Todays copy of the Express had both on the front.

Moral scapegoating” is a phrase my English teacher brought to me.

Someone’s got to be to blame. As if this world could be perfect if it only wasn’t for the single mothers, or the immigrants, or the benefit-sucking parasitic religious fundamentalists. Or whatever. It is, of course, the governments fault. The government wants to take all your money and give it to terrorist immigrants.

Nobody mentions corporate tax evasion.

Nobody mentions the cost of Nuclear Submarines.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." - Eisenhower.

This month, it’s the religious fundamentalists.

Next month, the Polish.

The month after, the Liberals.

If only we could wipe them all out, life could be perfect.

Maybe life is pretty good as it is. Maybe this is the best we can get.

Comments:
I wouldn't wipe my a*se on the Daily Mail.

Actually, I suppose I would, except for the newsprint that might end up on my a*se.
