MARK'S NOTCAST Ep 406 : The Sisters Of Mercy "Gift" + "Floodland" 1986-1988, 16 September 2024.
Leeds finest export - greater than Mel B of The Spice Girls* - is The Sisters Of Mercy, who are absolutely NOT a Goth Band. In 1986, faced with a disintegrating lineup and ex-members who formed a band called The Sisterhood, Andrew Eldritch retaliated with a hastily assembled album "Gift" by his own band called The Sisterhood, and followed it up with the second LP by The Sisters Of Mercy, "Floodland.", which is pretty much a gloomy disco soundtrack to an impending Nuclear Apocalypse. And the end of the world never sounded so glorious.
- sorry Mel!
